NYFW SPRING/SUMMER ’17 – MY EXPERIENCE

WOW! OBSESSED! GORGEOUS! INSPIRING! LOVELY! SEXY! AMAZING! All words I would used to describe the NYFW Spring/Summer ’17 season! And just like last season, it was an absolute dream come true to experience!

From the second we landed in NY it was GO GO GO! I had to change in the bathroom at the airport while my sister Lura waited for her luggage at baggage claim. Then we ran straight to get in a taxi! From there it was off to the first show at Pier 59.

First up was Fashion Palette, Resort/Swimwear showcasing designs by Sabo Luxe, BOSSA, Frankie Swimwear, Sara Bailes, Ark Swimwear, Ete Swimwear, AlphaBe the Label, Lil and Emm and Natalie Rolt. I was practically drooling through the whole show. I loved that I was seeing all my favorite textiles (including silk, velvet and lace) all in muted taupes, pinks & ivories, with pops of color such as red and teal.

After the first show Lura and I rushed back to our hotel to change (and meet our beautiful Mother who was traveling with us) then went straight back to Pier 59 for the second Fashion Palette show. This one was showcasing ready-to-wear designs from Con Ilio, Cristahlea, Stephanie Chehade, Milanja, Homebodii, and Sui Generis. Kicking off the show with Con Ilio, it was beautiful gown after beautiful gown, followed by some gorgeous mix of prints and beading, to nightwear that was to dye for.

The next day was a relaxing day of playing tourist with my mom and sister.  It was a day filled with great food, shopping, a comedy show, and of course the us Italians made it to little Italy 🙂

Day three started with an incredibe show by Dan Liu. Even down to the detail of having a red rose on everyone seat when we walked in, every detail of this show felt super romantic.  The wide range of colors mixed with black & white prints made for a very entertaining show.

After the show we walked over to west village to have brunch at the most adorable restaurant called Baker & Co. My good friend Ashley recommended it and she was so right! Highly recommend the Prosciutto Eggs Benedict! It was definitely my favorite!

After Brunch we walked over to Hamlet’s Vintage were we had so much fun trying on the most unique high-end vintage dresses! I could have stayed in there for hours! Definitely a must if you’re ever in the area! So much fun!

We started at the Skylight seeing Irina Vitjaz and the stunning collection she was showing there. I loved her use of prints and the soft violet color palette. Also loved the mix of deep plunging neck lines with a soft romantic bottom.

Next was Leanne Marshall… I LOVED every single piece that walked out! True to her style, the collection was soft and feminine while still staying fashion forward and edgy. I think styling the dresses with flat platform sandals really helped keep it young and fresh. And her transition of color made for an incredible finale!

Last but least, Anniesa Hasibuan. WOW WOW WOW! I am so happy I got to witness this collection in person, the pictures don’t do it justice. He fabric choices were spot on and made the whole collection feel incredibly expensive and regal. I was blown away!

This season of NYFW was again a dream come true. The awe and magic of the whole week is a feeling I don’t think it will ever go away. I consider it an honor and privilege to attend! Fingers crossed, I’ll be back next year!!!
